One to melt your taste buds...

Chef Pat Dunn whipped up two new rib creations: citrus glazed bbq ribs and Asian bbq ribs topped w/crushed roasted peanuts, both served w/fries and cole slaw. But grab them soon, they'll only be around for the holiday season! JC confessed that he'd had the Asian ribs for breakfast and they were awesome!

Pirates ahoy!

It's all very last-minute and all very cool: Blackbeard's Pirate Ship and its crew will be partyin' at the Rum Barrel this evening after the parade with the boat parked out front--on Front Street. Ha!

It's a scaled down replica of Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge, complete with square rigged sails, smoking cannons and a crew of professional performers that entertain with lighthearted piratical merriment, songs, games, and some factual pirate history. How cool is that?!

This week, Google Alerts shot me this video of Rum Barrel from Key to the Keys. We have it on our homepage, but it was sort of cool seeing it on Vimeo.

"Let's face it, Mondays suck. Now they just suck a little less thanks to us," said JC Picco, Rum Barrel general manager, with a chuckle.

Attendees also get a raffle ticket with each drink purchase and a chance to win a trip for two to Hamptons Summer 2012 thanks to 3rd Strike Entertainment. One lucky winner will be drawn every Monday at midnight to be a finalist to win the ultimate summer prize.

Featured Artist: Potcheen

Colorado-based Celtic Pirate-Folk Rock Band Potcheen has a spirited mix of high-energy Celtic Traditional, Bluegrass, Zydeco, Punk Jam, Blues and Rock, all rolled into a pirate sensibility.

Their songs are smashing ballads of Irish rebellion, love, immigration and drink. In other words, not your grandpa's folk Band. But what's up with the band's name, you say?

Poitín, anglicised as Poteen or Potcheen, is a traditional Irish distilled, highly alcoholic beverage (60%-95% ABV). Poitín was traditionally distilled in a small pot still and the term is a diminutive of the Irish word pota, meaning "pot".

Traditionally distilled from malted barley grain or potatoes, it is one of the strongest alcoholic beverages in the world (renowned for its ability to get the drinker intoxicated the morning after drinking it by drinking water and thereby bringing the remaining ethanol back into solution), and for centuries was classified as illegal in Ireland.

Potcheen the band has played thousands of shows from New York to San Francisco, over 250 festival appearances and opened for some of the best performers in the world. Surrounded by Celtic Tapestries, pirate flags and endless pints of beer, they make any room into a little slice of Ireland, combining traditional Irish Themes (drink, love & politics) with punk attitude and rapid-fire delivery that's sure to make your toes tap and your throat gasp for a Guinness.

Potcheen appears at The Rum Barrel on October 26 just in time for our Drinking Made Easy Viewing Party.
